Community Services and Resources

While families are working to understand and adapt to the ever changing life with COVID, Friends of the Seward Library are listening to the needs and we are wanting to be a help to families.  We are a non profit 501c3 that is dedicated to supporting literacy in our community.  You are important to us.  We are gathering information about services and resources available in our community and State that can be used for help in this time of crazy daily change.  From mental health outreach to tutoring services, there are agencies and volunteers in our community that can be of help to you and your family.  If you don't find them listed here, let us know, we will  help to find the information for your needs.

Services include customized acupuncture treatments designed and catered specifically to the individual with Traditional Chinese Medicine and Japanese Meridian Therapy roots.  Manual therapies included but not limited to: Fire cupping, Myofascial release, Stationary cupping, and Gua Sha. All of these therapies are designated for Myofascial release, increasing blood flow and circulation to promote healing which will aid in pain relief. Herbs are used in conjunction with other therapies to promote health. Using traditional remedies combined with recent clinical advances in plant-based medicine, we can craft a plan to create better health.

Nutritional and Health Counseling from a TCM perspective is also available as many illnesses are caused by the toxins in our foods. Patients will be given healthy lifestyle guidance, cooking recipes, and meal plans as needed per patient case.

  Youth Support/Groups

Picture
Youth 360 - Seward is a primary prevention program being funded through federal grant monies for the implementation of the Icelandic Prevention Model (IPM).  The IPM is a model the county of Iceland began developing in the mid 1990’s when they saw their teen substance use rates reported as the highest in Europe. A wide range of stakeholders collaborated to form a data informed model aimed at reducing teen substance use.

The result was incredibly successful.  Iceland saw the rate of its 15/16 year old’s reporting being drunk in the last 30 days go from 42 percent in 1995 to 6 percent in 2018, impressively this number has stayed below 10 percent since 2010, the lowest in Europe.  Iceland has created an open source model for any other interested appropriate entity to follow, in hopes of helping these groups reduce their rates of youth substance use, and this is what Youth 360 Seward is committed to do for Seward.

For more information and to stay up to date on Youth 360’s program offerings follow Youth 360 Seward on Facebook and Instagram. READ MORE
