Seward Community Library & Museum will be taking part in the Big Library Read program. Library card holders will be able to borrow and read the autobiography eBook of Shakespeare Saved My Life: Ten Years in Solitary with the Bard by Laura Bates, starting Tuesday, March 17 and concluding at midnight on April 1 (U.S. EST) by visiting http://listenalaska.lib.overdrive.com.
The book is a riveting true-life tale of Shakespeare professor and prison volunteer Laura Bates as she teaches about the playwright in supermax solitary confinement, developing a friendship with a brilliant, dangerous convict. Patrons will be able to select a lending period of one, two, or three weeks, which begins at the date of checkout.
Big Library Read is an international program that gives libraries and library patrons unlimited simultaneous access to a popular title during the program dates, creating a virtual, global eBook club. Interested patrons will be able borrow Shakespeare Saved My Life using a valid library card, and read on all major computers and devices, including iPhone®, iPad®, Nook®, Android™ phones and tablets, and Kindle® without worrying about wait lists or holds. Titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period, and best of all, there are no late fees!
Need help using your library card to check out this title, or other eBooks, audio books or music from Listen Alaska? Plan to attend a Listen Alaska workshop scheduled for Saturday, March 28th beginning at 2:00pm in the Library’s Community Room.
The Library’s Community Book Club has also selected Shakespeare Saved My Life as their next title for discussion on Tuesday, April 14th at 6:30pm. Community Book Club is open to all community members interested in reading the book and attending the discussion.
The Big Library Read program is made possible through a partnership between OverDrive, the leading supplier of eBooks and more to libraries, and Sourcebooks, publisher of Laura Bates’ autobiography.
